Hey!

We're Josh and Amy Johnston, the dynamic duo behind Photo 98. This is the place to get to know us better, to catch a glimpse into both our professional and personal lives. We'll be updating the blog often with studio news, what we've been photographing lately, and sharing our own personal photos and stories with you.

We hope you'll come back often to see what we're up to. And if you feel particularly inspired by anything, please leave comments. We'd love to hear from you.

Route 66 roadtrip

On July 15th, Amy and I will have been married for 10 years.  She’s been the best all these years.  I’m very lucky to have her.  About a year ago, we had a very short conversation about what we would do to celebrate this milestone in our lives.  It took us about 2 minutes to decide that a journey down the mother road was in our future.  Little did we know that the gas prices would go through the roof!  We’ve recruited some friends to journey with us; our friends Erin and Andy from D.C. will be celebrating their 7th anniversary on the 14th, and they’ve agreed to  spend nearly two weeks with us exploring the American Southwest.  The trip begins today and ends on July 11th when we fly home.  Stay tuned to the blog for the next couple of weeks.  I’m planning to post lots of images from our travels as we go.

Wedding: Heather & Dustin

I photographed this wedding hours ago with my friend Rob Buettner from Appleton, WI.  We had a great time celebrating with Heather and Dustin at First United Methodist Church of downtown Peoria and at the Countryside Banquet Tent in Sunnyland.   I’ve already picked out a few favorites to share!

Congrats, Heather & Dustin!  Best wishes to you both!

Engaged: Jaclyn & Josh

I had a great time with Jaclyn and Josh yesterday photographing their engagement session.  They’re “outdoorsy” people, especially Josh, so I took them to one of my favorite places to get away from civilization.   I think we captured some great images.  Here are a few of my favs.

Wedding: Ally & Nate

Ally and Nate were married June 21st at Redeemer Lutheran Church in Peoria with reception following at Weaver Ridge Country Club.  I was solo for this wedding, but I think I did alright without my better half, Amy, picking up my slack.  Here are a few of my favorites from the day.

Wedding: Tiffany & Ryan

Tiffany and Ryan were married June 14th, 2008 at First Presbyterian Church, Normal, IL with reception following at the Chateau, Bloomington, IL.

Tiffany has some great taste! The details of the day were beautiful. The shoes…

The rings.

The bride

The girls had some fun…

Ashley, the flower girl, was adorable.

The guys and their “bad ass” pose.

The heirloom, something borrowed and something blue. This pendant is good luck!

The walk to the altar.

The gorgeous couple.

The reception site.

Reception details.

The first dance as Mr. and Mrs.

Congratulations, Tiffany and Ryan! Best wishes as you begin life as husband and wife.

Jonah

I had a blast on Tuesday photographing Jonah and his family at their home. Jonah is one happy kid. He was all smiles for my camera. But like most boys his age, he doesn’t sit still well! Here are a few of my favorites from the session.

A little shy when I first arrived, but he warmed up to me pretty quickly.

Thanks for sharing your toys with me, Jonah!

Steve & Alicia

We love it when our wedding clients return to us for portraits, whether it’s for a couple session, maternity portraits, or for family or children’s portraits. Steve and Alicia are former wedding clients of ours. They’ll be married 5 years this September. It was so cool to see them again. I just wish they had better news. Alicia was recently diagnosed with cancer, and will begin a treatment plan very soon. Alicia’s doctors are very optimistic, but cancer is always scary. Our thoughts and prayers go out to Alicia and Steve as they go forward to beat this. Here are a few favorites from their session.

Wedding: Kathy & Greg

Amy and I had a great time at Kathy’s and Greg’s wedding. They married at St. Mark’s Catholic Church in Peoria with a reception following in the Cotillion room at the Hotel Pere Marquette. Here are some of our favorites from the day.

Boys and their toys.

Congrats, Kathy and Greg! Best wishes to you both for the future.

Wedding: Diana & Danny

Diana and Danny were married Saturday, May 24th at Blessed Sacrament of Morton, IL with their reception following at the Peoria Civic Center Ballroom. The day was absolutely perfect for a wedding. Amy and I had an awesome time photographing their day. We captured so many great images, that I found preparing this blog entry a little daunting. I decided instead to present some of my favorite portrait images of Diana and Danny. They were so natural in front of the camera. They really made my job easy.

Congrats, Diana & Danny! Best wishes to you both!

The website’s back!

We’re back online! All links and galleries should be working properly now. Thanks to our webhost for working on this over the holiday weekend.
